Relive all the greatest moments in Steelers football history through newspaper headlines of the time with this Pittsburgh Steelers history book. With coverage beginning in 1942, the year before their temporary merger with the Eagles, this personalized Pittsburgh Steelers book guides you through the decades, revisiting all the key moments from Pitt Stadium, the Three Rivers Stadium and Heinz Field, right up until the present day. The book also includes coverage of the 2020 season, which the Steelers ended with a 12-4 record; although, after the shock playoff loss to Cleveland, this might be a season you’d sooner forget!
No NFL franchise has won more Super Bowls than the Pittsburgh Steelers. With six Lombardi Trophies, they stand alone as the most successful team since the NFL/AFL merger. The majority of this success came in the 1970s. Before this, the Steelers had played only one playoff game in their 39-year history, a 21-0 loss to the Eagles in 1947. Such a prolonged period of inadequacy only served to make their eventual turnaround all the more shocking and remarkable. In the eight years from 1972 to 1979, the Steelers won the AFC Central Division seven times, and reached four Super Bowls, incredibly winning them all. The Steel Curtain defense, led by Jack Lambert, and quarterback Terry Bradshaw would rightly receive a large amount of the credit, along with head coach Chuck Noll, who remained with the team for 23 years. The turn of the century would bring along a Pittsburgh renaissance, as the Steelers, now led by star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, reached three Super Bowls in six years, winning the first two.
