Relive all the greatest moments in Cleveland football with this personalised Cleveland Browns book. This fine piece of Browns memorabilia is made from newspaper headlines of the time, printed in the Washington Post, with coverage beginning in 1946, the year of the franchise’s debut season. The Cleveland Browns history book guides you through the decades, revisiting all the key moments from Cleveland Stadium and the FirstEnergy Stadium, right up until the present day.
The Cleveland Browns began life in the All-American Football Conference, dominating the league and winning the championship in all four seasons. The success continued after joining the NFL in 1950, winning the championship at the first time of asking, as well as twice more in the next five years. Indeed, every one of the Browns’ first ten professional seasons ended in a league championship game, an incredible feat which no other Big Four franchise can match. However, while the early days of the Cleveland Browns were packed with success, the script was completely flipped following the NFL/AFL merger.
One of only two original franchises to have never reached a Super Bowl, there are two periods of time which best sum up the Browns’ recent misfortunes: the three consecutive AFC Championship Games in the late 80s, with all three resulting in losses to the Denver Broncos courtesy of the most famous drive and most famous fumble in pro football history; and in 1996, when owner Art Modell relocated the entire roster to Baltimore. The Browns would eventually relaunch in Cleveland in 1999, a year before Modell’s Baltimore Ravens won the Super Bowl.
