Fight on you Orange and Blue! Dive into the history of the Auburn University football program with our brand new Auburn Tigers football book. Told through newspaper articles published as far back as the 1930s, this fine gift charts the journey of the Tigers up to the present day, covering conference titles, numerous bowl games and two national championships.
Auburn’s first national title came back in the polling era, when, in 1957, they became the first team ever to be awarded the AP championship while being on probation and ineligible for any postseason bowl game. It was the first of two consecutive undefeated seasons under coach Shug Jordan, who took over in 1951 after the Tigers had gone 0-10 the previous year, and remained at the helm for a quarter of a century. More recently, after winning four conference titles under Pat Dye in the 1980s, Auburn won its second national title in 2010 after a 14-0 season, led by Quarterback Cam Newton, who went on to win the Heisman Trophy and become the first pick in the NFL draft, a double feat that fellow alumnus Bo Jackson had managed fifteen years prior.
